At Limber Insurance, You Can Have It All

Who says you can't have both savings & protection? Save money and get maximum coverage and protection.

There’s a vast difference in bare-minimum, acceptable-by-law coverage and coverage that truly offers protection. Minimum coverage is precisely that – the absolute lowest amount of coverage a driver can legally possess. Unfortunately, minimum coverage can lead to a variety of problems in a variety of scenarios. While your coverage may meet the state’s requirements, it may not meet your personal needs.

Below, we’ve listed the different types of auto insurance coverage and the State of Georgia’s minimum requirements. Please note that each state has its own laws and minimum requirements. If you’re not a Georgia resident, be sure to research minimum automotive insurance requirements for your specific state.

  • Collision Coverage – This basic type of insurance covers your vehicle in the event of a collision. This includes collisions with other cars, or with objects like walls, barriers, or bridges.
  • Comprehensive Coverage – This coverage protects against non-collision-related things that may happen to your car. Examples include theft, fire, hitting a deer, or vandalism.
  • Liability Coverage – This type of policy is designed to cover damages when you are at fault in an accident and you cause damage to someone else’s car or property. This coverage is often mandated by law, so every driver must ensure that they have an adequate amount of liability coverage. Minimum liability insurance requirements under Georgia law are:
    • Bodily Injury Liability – $25,000 per person and $50,000 per incident
    • Property Damage Liability – $25,000 per incident (*State of Georgia Minimums)
  • Medical Payments – In some states, this type of insurance coverage is referred to as PIP (Personal Injury Protection). Medical payment policies cover any injuries to drivers or passengers if an accident occurs while you’re driving. Medical payment insurance varies from state to state, so it’s important to verify that your coverage meets your expectations.
  • Uninsured Motorists – This insurance coverage falls under the umbrella of liability insurance. It protects you in the event that another driver causes an accident, and that driver is uninsured. In Georgia, this type of liability insurance is required by law.

It’s important to understand the different types of automotive insurance coverage when you’re choosing a policy, because you want to be sure you’re protected in the event of an accident. Now that you know about each type of coverage, it’s time to get a free auto insurance quote and compare rates from multiple insurance carriers!
